Historic Paintings of Mordialloc

In 1926 Arthur Hill wrote to the Town Clerk of the City of Mordialloc offering to donate to the Council two small oil paintings that had been in the possession of his family for sixty years. Both were of Mordialloc painted by Petrie in 1866.

The offer was accepted with the painting being collected on July 24, 1926. Since that time they have been part of the Council’s art collection.

Although Hill described them as “not works of Art, but a true picture of the place at that date” he thought they would be of historic value.
